I was at Chico’s and Tattoo Baby was working with us at the time and Chico started taking her to shows because at the time it was a novelty to have a female artist. It was a good move on his part to do that. Her level of art is how she got on Ink Master. She brought the shop to the attention of the producers and I think at first they were trying to develop a show like Tattoo After Dark about the tattoos and the artists and lifestyle. So when Spike came around to interview us there were about 32 artists between the 4 shops and they wanted the craziest people and that put me first on the list (laughs) Remember Belushi’s house in Animal House...that was pretty much our shop and we were always on probation, we were that one’s who partied, but we were fun so he couldn’t outright fire us. They changed it to a show about coverups and picked me. Why do you think the show didn’t get renewed? A couple of reasons. Behind the scenes stuff, the time slot, the World Series, Sons Of Anarchy etc and a couple of other reasons we don’t have to get into. But our ratings were pretty decent, almost always top 5. Just a combination of reasons. And after the show did you go back to the shop? I did, and I waited the whole season and I got no support from Chico, which was heartbreaking, so I left.
