It can make people respect you for doing well in that little time and it can also make people underestimate you and think if you act as if you’re confident in what you do then you’re almost naive in a way and not experienced enough. Did Sketchy Lawyer actually believe some of the shit he was saying or was he trying to fuck you up? (laughs) I love Sketchy because he’s so much fun to argue with. We never really saw eye to eye but we knew that if he said something to me that I didn’t agree with he knew I would come back at him, but it was always fun, it was engaging in a way after it was “good job buddy, that was good” no hard feelings. All the time afterwards we would hug each other and “no hard feelings, I got you.” I love him, he’s just a little shit sometimes. Playing the game. He wanted to play the game. He likes to press people’s buttons and after a while he knew where all my buttons were. At conventions, going down the Ink Master isle, especially the first four or five seasons, everyone just gravitated towards each other and welcomed the new ones in as if they were survivors of something like a horrible bus crash or they had been through something. I think going through what you go through filming that show is such a bizarre and special experience because we know that nobody else but us knows what it’s like to be in such a..what it’s like to live in that house so when you meet somebody who knows what it’s like and understands, you immediately gravitate towards them and have that kind of bond right off the bat. 169
