Have you ever come across something that you just didn’t want to part with? Like, I need this with me, this is mine. I find things I don’t want to part with all the time. It’s really tough to be a user and a dealer. I got into this because I love this stuff, the weirder the better, and all the time I keep shit. I’ll find stuff and I’m like “I can’t sell this, I’ll never find another one”. What I end up doing though, as the collection grows and I have no place for all of it, I’ll trade up. Something I have, maybe I’ve had for a while, I’ve lived with it in the house, I’ve enjoyed it, I’ll let it go, I’ll put shit back out in the world, let someone else enjoy it. So whenever I keep stuff I really try to trade up. When something comes into the collection usually something goes out as well, something lesser. Of course it builds your collection, although there’s stuff I regret selling, but you can’t keep it all. I know right! What are your plans for the future? I would love to open up a shop out in the west. For years I’ve been thinking Los Angeles. They just don’t have this stuff out there, at least not in any quantity. Maybe a pop-up shop, maybe just go out there and just do it, I think that’s what I’d really like to do. Maybe that and another show. Always another show! http://www.obscuraantiques.com 207 Avenue A, New York, NY 10009 (212) 505-9251 201
