For those who don’t know, how did the concept for “Tattoo Rescue” come about? Truthfully, the concept just came about because I met a producer. He liked my attitude and he ended up coming to my shop after I met him. He loved my shop. How it looked, how the people who worked for me were very professional and very friendly. He pretty much told me that I should be on TV. Was it their idea for what your role would be? We came up with the idea together. I think after Kitchen Nightmares and stuff like that, everybody had that idea to do it with every business in the world. So the role that I “played” or was in, that’s what I do. I’ve done carpentry and designing since I was a kid with my parents having a construction company. So what I did on the show is what I do in real life. Did the shops on the show reach out to you guys? They have a company that put out a casting call just like any other show. So they put out a casting call for shops that needed help. Then I sat down with the producers and went through hundreds of people who wanted to be on the show and picked out the ones we thought would make the best TV. How did it feel being on a tattoo related show and not being an artist? It was pretty weird for me because first and foremost I’m a tattoo artist and I didn’t do that at all on the 9
