points in the concept, that’s great, and also having a lot of freedom in the project is also great, or even free reign. I respect and appreciate both of those scenarios equally, the only time that there’s a disparity is when a client is trying to micro manage every detail of every thing because I understand personally that they have preferences, but there are certain things that just don’t work, and certain things that are just not possible, once again it’s one of these vagaries. To answer your question, I respect both of those scenarios. I really actually love it when a client comes in with a solid concept and actually has at least a few really good reference images that aren’t way out there and not even similar, they really did their homework and they’ve got a couple of pieces that really let me into their concept, let me into their head and into their motivation for getting it. But now you have given me your ideas and I get it Right, and let me do my thing with it. It’s a collaboration. I love that, that’s what I’m doing, I’m illustrating these things for people and I’d like it to be as true to themselves as possible, you’re coming to me for my sensibilities and my work, but it needs to be true to the client as well. Speaking of collaborations, have you had any kind of collaborations with other artists? Have I? No I have not to date, yet, I would be absolutely open to. I’m sure a lot of people would love to work with you. I hope so. I think you kind of give that impression on your web site a little bit Yeah, I kind of do exist in the shadows, in a certain respect, I do. But I figured someone would reach out to you, Paul Booth or … I almost collaborated on a tattoo between Paul Booth, Nikko Hurtado and myself, I believe it was in 2007. Paul had asked me to do the collaboration with them, and I was into it, and I forget which event it was for, it was for one of the Last Rites kind of live events that they do, not sure if it was on Halloween or not, but Nikko’s plane was delayed and he wasn’t going to make the event, so Paul called off the collaboration, but that was the one time I was set up to do it. I haven’t done any to date but I’m definitely into it, I’m more than happy to work on a collaborative piece. I think there would definitely need to be that aesthetic synergy, a black and gray artist that does realistic work, that kind of thing. With the other mediums that you’ve worked with, besides tattooing and blood, is there anything else you would like to get back to, or just mess around with more 99
