who the first black tattoo artist is, they don’t know anything. They don’t know who the first five black tattoo artists were, they just want to tattoo. I think the lack of knowledge about the history keeps them behind too. Have you thought about doing other films and/or documentaries? That wasn’t even our first film. A lot of people consider that our first film. We have like three or four filmmakers in our camp. So we have other films under our belt, we just released them independently. We make more money putting it out on our own. A lot of people get caught up and ask us how come we didn’t put it on Netflix. The same money Netflix would have offered us is the same money we made the first week on our own. And we still own the rights to it. We can market it and drop it again anytime we want to. We just released the Dripping Star website (www.drippingstartv.com). You get unlimited access to the raw stuff, not any of the stuff we put on YouTube. You can see all the footage because everybody wanted a sequel but they hadn’t even seen all the footage we had. So what we’re doing is releasing the raw uncut interviews of every artist that’s in the film. The interviews are like an hour to two hours long each. Each interview is almost the same length as the film. We think we’re going to release Twig Sparks’ interview this week (currently posted on drippingstartv.com). You can see it in its entirety; you can see his whole entire interview from beginning to end. From me going to his house, his personal art collection…everything. It’s all there and it’s raw. You’ll see Zulu’s interview. It’s just raw and uncut so people get to see the pureness of each artist. The 153
