First off, I had heard
him play bass. I’m
not going to lie, he’s
a pretty great bass
player. But I held my
composure because
I’m not going to let
him know that he’s
a pretty great bass
player. So he comes
in….go head Ivan, tell
‘em how you felt.
IH: I don’t know man. I walked into the house, they took me down to the
basement….no (laughs). I don’t know. I walked in and thought I was going
to pull my bass out the second I got there. The first thing they do is sit me
down on the couch, Indian style and kind of put the spotlight on me. They
were like, so what are you about? What do you like? They were like this is
what we’re about, this is what we want to do…”Are you down?” I was like
“Yeah.” From the moment I walked in I knew that this was going to be it.
From there we started playing and there were sparks flying.
SL: He sounds all romantic…(laughs)
IH: Anthony and I had a little bromance thing. Funny enough, Anthony
and I came from the same Bronx scene. We were in bands that knew of
each other. We just didn’t know each other at the time but we knew of
each others bands. It was a small little community we had going on. It was
just funny to, years later, end up in a band with him and to find out he’s
like one of the best drummers I ever played with.
SL: And then we all had a happy ending…that’s the story of Quantum
