ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Kevin John Edusei
German conductor Kevin John Edusei is soughtafter the world over . He is praised repeatedly for the drama and tension that he brings to his music-making , for his attention to detail , sense of architecture , and the fluidity , warmth and insight that he brings to his performances . He is deeply committed to the creative elements of performance , presenting classical music in new formats , cultivating audiences , introducing music by under-represented composers and conducting an eclectic range of repertoire from the baroque to the contemporary .
Edusei ’ s 2022 – 23 season includes debuts with the Munich Philharmonic , London Philharmonic , BBC Symphony , Hallé , Utah Symphony , Cincinnati Symphony and National Symphony ( Washington DC ) orchestras amongst others ; return engagements include the London Symphony Orchestra , marking Edusei ’ s Barbican Centre debut , the City of Birmingham Symphony and Baltimore Symphony orchestras . In recent seasons he has conducted many of the major orchestras across the UK , Holland , Germany and the US and in Summer 2022 appeared with the Chineke ! Orchestra on a Summer festivals tour which included Snape , Hamburg , Helsinki , the closing concert of the Lucerne Festival and a televised performance of Beethoven 9 at the BBC Proms . Edusei is the former Chief Conductor of the Munich Symphony Orchestra and is now the Principal Guest Conductor of the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra .
In Autumn 2022 , Edusei made his debut with the Royal Opera House conducting La bohème and he will return in 2023 – 24 . Previously he has conducted at the English National Opera , Semperoper Dresden , Hamburg State Opera ,
Volksoper Wien and Komische Oper Berlin . During his time as Chief Conductor of Bern Opera House , he led many new productions including Peter Grimes , Salome , Bluebeard ’ s Castle , Tannhäuser , Tristan und Isolde , Kátya Kábanová and a cycle of the Mozart Da-Ponte operas .
Isata Kanneh-Mason
Isata Kanneh-Mason is the recipient of the 2021 Leonard Bernstein Award , a 2020 Opus Klassik award for best young artist and , as a member of the Kanneh-Mason family , the 2021 best classical artist at the Global Awards .
Her debut album on Decca Classics , “ Romance — the Piano Music of Clara Schumann ”, entered the UK classical charts at No . 1 . This was followed in July 2021 by “ Summertime ”, a journey through the varied piano repertoire of 20th-century America featuring Samuel Barber ’ s Piano Sonata and a world premiere recording of Samuel Coleridge-Taylor ’ s Impromptu in B minor .
Since studying with Hamish Milne and Carole Presland at London ’ s Royal Academy of Music , Isata has embarked on a successful and increasingly busy concert career as a solo artist , with concerto appearances , solo recitals and chamber concerts worldwide . During spring 2020 , Isata performed a live-streamed rendition from her family home in Nottingham of the first movement of Beethoven ’ s Third Piano Concerto accompanied by her brothers and sisters , which garnered over one million views . She recently gave her Wigmore Hall solo recital debut , which featured repertoire by female composers for International Women ’ s Day and appeared in streamed performances with orchestras such as the Hallé and the BBC Scottish Symphony .
