The export shipments of Australian almonds in 2023-24 were 106,599 tonnes ( kwe ) comprising of 37,632 tonnes of inshell and 80,716 tonnes of kernel and value added . This result is 1.3 % higher than the previous year export sales of 105,263 tonnes . The key export markets for the Australian almond industry were : China with 33,434 tonnes which was 34 % down on the previous year ; India with 19,180 tonnes up 113 % on the previous year followed by Spain with 10,609 tonnes which was 23 % higher than last year , and the Turkiye with 11,064 tonnes which was 83 % higher than last year . Demand for Australian product continues at a strong pace with the value-adding industries within Spain and Turkiye taking advantage of an increased availability of manufacturing grade inventory . The Middle East , which has traditionally been a Californian stronghold , has also continued to increase interest in Australia almonds with 15,041 tonnes , up 33 % on the previous year after doubling the year before . For the first time in the industry the total amount sold for the season ( 131,021 tonnes ) exceeded the actual crop intake ( 103,381 tonnes ).
