P H A S E III : investigative methods

In this phase , the architectural and social consequences are extracted from the environmental analysis and the surveys . Since the floor plans and the facades have already been worked out in detail in phase two , the focus is now on the development of vacancies in this phase . After this analysis of the historical development of the vacancies , the first thoughts on the combination of “ working and living ” were recorded . The formulation of the problem and the research question derived from it is also of great importance .
After I had the opportunity to talk with different people and inhabitants of Balzers , it was clear for me that the younger generation had no interest in the village ’ s history at all . Although they were passing by these abandoned buildings , they did not know anything about them nor realized their existence . Therefore , I decided to develop a strategy , where the elder generation , which know the history and the value of the buildings , can meet the young generation . With different tasks they should come in interaction and convey their stories to the young generation .
