Safe At Home
This course will teach children / tweens how to be safe when they are home alone. This course will touch on the basics of; Fire Prevention, Water Safety, Internet Safety,“ Stranger Danger” safety, and Electrical Safety. There is no certificate for this course.

Babysitter Training
( with CPR / First Aid / Choking certification) The American Red Cross Babysitter’ s Training with Adult & Pediatric First Aid / CPR / AED – BL course prepares youth ages 11-16 to care for children and infants safely and confidently. It includes hands-on activities videos and discussions to develop essential real-life readiness babysitting skills. The course covers feeding, diapering, picking up and holding children safety and emergency response. We want to prepare participants well for emergencies but CPR can be physically demanding and participants should ideally weigh at least 85-90 pounds to participate. The First Aid / CPR / AED Blended Learning course includes an online portion and an instructor-led classroom skill session. The online portion must be completed prior to attending the in-person training and must be taken on a PC or tablet with a high-speed Internet connection. Allow approximately 2 hours to complete the online portion. Upon successful completion of both the online and in person portions of the course a valid 10-year Babysitter’ s Training digital certification and a valid 2-year digital certificate for Pediatric First Aid / CPR / AED is issued.

The Healthy Habits Club from Afterschool Enrichment Solutions provides a fun, action-packed and positive environment to promote physical, mental and emotional health! Students will explore themes of communication, compassion for self and others, active listening, conflict resolution, gentle exercise, nutrition, mindfulness, and respect. A qualified instructor will guide the participants in hands-on learning through games, movement, creative writing, problem-solving exercises and journaling

Jr Firefighter Program
Hinsdale Firefighters will share and demonstrate essential fire safety practices. Children will have the opportunity to tour the Fire Safety House, learn how to safely exit a home in case of a fire, and identify common household hazards. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Please note: This program is conducted by on-duty firefighters. In the event of an emergency, the program may be shortened or cancelled.

Taught by the members of the Hinsdale Fire Department, this course is for people with little to no medical training and teaches how to preform CPR, use of AED, and provide first air. Safety Village
This exciting safety program will teach 5 and 6 years olds 55 different facets of safety in a fun and engaging way. The children will delight in driving the pedal cars through the streets of a miniature Western Springs practicing good safety mixed with lessons, songs, movies, and live characters. Each child will make a real 911 call, hop up on a fire truck, a police car, and an ambulance. As well as practice“ escaping” from our fire safety house and be entertained by lifesaving lessons by Cinders the Fire Dog, Beltman, Buckle Bear, McGruff, Sparky and uniformed police and fire personnel. Note: There will be a mandatory 1st day parent orientation on 6 / 8. Please plan to walk your child in on the first day and stay for a brief presentation as well as pick up the t-shirt and parent information.
