Organic Lawns by LUNSETH Launches Zero-Emission Electric Mowing Division in the Twin Cities

After more than a decade of helping homeowners build healthier lawns, Organic Lawns by LUNSETH is introducing a new way to maintain them— quietly and without emissions.
The Twin Cities – based lawn care company, known for its fertilizing and weed control services since 2010, is officially expanding its electric mowing division following a successful pilot program in 2025.
“ This is something our customers have been asking us about for several years,” said co-owner Eric Lunseth.“ Our zero-emission mowing division uses battery-operated mowers, weed whips, and blowers— and even the truck that tows the trailer is electric. The service is quieter than gaspowered equipment and, best of all, produces zero emissions.”
At the center of the operation is a fully electric Ford F-150 Lightning, which powers the company’ s customized trailer. LUNSETH outfitted the trailer with a high-speed“ super charger” capable of fully charging handheld equipment in approximately eight minutes— fast enough to recharge between jobs. The charging system is powered by the truck’ s onboard generator, creating a selfcontained, mobile energy system.
In 2025, the company rolled out electric mowing to a select group of customers to test performance and durability under daily use. According to Lunseth, the results exceeded expectations.
“ Battery technology has advanced significantly in recent years, and we now have the infrastructure to support this service at scale,” he said.“ From greatly reduced noise pollution to zero carbon emissions to a high-quality cut, it checks a lot of boxes.”
The electric mowing division will focus on the western and southwest metro communities, including Edina, Richfield, Bloomington, St. Louis Park, Hopkins, Eden Prairie, Golden Valley, Plymouth, Wayzata, and Minnetonka.
The timing aligns with a broader national shift toward cleaner landscaping practices. Several municipalities across the country— including Evanston and the state of California— have enacted restrictions on gas-powered lawn equipment. Gas backpack blowers, in particular, have drawn scrutiny for their noise levels, often exceeding 90 decibels, as well as their carbon emissions.
By comparison, electric blowers typically operate in the 62 – 65 decibel range— a substantial reduction in perceived noise— while eliminating direct emissions altogether.
For customers, the difference is noticeable.
One homeowner who participated in last year’ s pilot program shared,“ We are beyond happy with the electric lawnmowers. It’ s crazy how much quieter they are. We barely even notice that the lawn is being mowed.”
As more homeowners seek environmentally responsible services without sacrificing performance, Organic Lawns by LUNSETH believes electric mowing represents the next evolution of residential lawn care in the Twin Cities.
