Moore Leads Manila with Team-First Mentality and State Title Aspirations By: Ryan Fletcher
For Isaac Moore, being a leader for the Manila Lions baseball team is about more than performance— it’ s about setting a standard. Moore has embraced that responsibility throughout his career, focusing on being a consistent, positive example for his teammates. Whether it’ s hustling on and off the field or maintaining composure in high-pressure situations, he takes pride in showing others what it means to represent Manila the right way.“ It’ s about showing up ready to work every day,” Moore said.“ Doing things the right way and being someone your teammates can look to.”
That mindset reflects a deeper understanding Moore has developed through baseball. Over the years, he’ s learned that success isn’ t built on individual accomplishments, but on collective effort. The game, he says, mirrors life in that way— requiring trust, communication, and a shared commitment to a common goal.“ Baseball has taught me that it’ s not about one person,” he said.“ It takes everyone working together to be successful.” That team-first approach shows up in all aspects of Moore’ s game. In big moments, he focuses on slowing things down, trusting his preparation, and relying on the work he’ s put in behind the scenes. In the dugout, he keeps energy high and makes it a priority to lift up teammates when they need it most. One of the defining achievements of Moore’ s career came during his junior season, when he earned All-State honors— a goal he had long worked toward.“ It was something I had always wanted,” he said.“ I worked really hard to accomplish that.”
But even as his individual accolades grew, Moore continued to evolve mentally. He credits much of his development to improvements in how he approaches and processes the game, allowing him to stay focused and consistent. That growth helped pave the way for his future beyond high school. After drawing interest from college programs during the winter of his junior year, Moore received his first offer shortly after the season ended. He ultimately committed to John Wood Community College early in his senior year, drawn to the program’ s culture and its ability to help him reach his full potential.“ I felt like it was the best place for me to develop as a player,” Moore said.
As he enters his final high school season, Moore has high expectations for the Lions. He believes the team has what it takes to reach the state tournament and make a deep postseason run, though he knows it will require contributions from every level of the roster. Among those expected to step into key roles are sophomore Brady Cohn, who Moore describes as a major presence both at the plate and on the mound, and junior Patrick Fisher, a steady bat and everyday contributor at first base.
Moore is determined to make the most of his final season in a Lions uniform. With his leadership, experience, and team-first mentality, he’ s not only chasing wins— but helping shape the culture of Manila baseball for those who will follow.
