PRESIDENT’ S COMMENTS
MAY 2026
As we move further into the spring season, I am pleased to highlight several recent improvements that reflect our continued investment in enhancing both member experience and the quality of our facilities.
While we have previously shared an update on this project, I wanted to take a moment to go a bit deeper and explain both the process and why it was such an important investment for the Club. One of the most notable recent accomplishments is the completion of our bunker renovation project on the Championship Golf Course. This was a comprehensive effort that extended well beyond simply replacing sand. In partnership with JonesPlan, a highly regarded golf course contractor, we addressed critical underlying infrastructure issues that were causing our bunkers to no longer drain effectively. Nearly 18 % of the course’ s total bunker square footage received new liners as part of an upgrade to the Better Billy Bunker system, ensuring improved drainage and durability.
Equally important was the installation of new bunker sand sourced from Chardon, Ohio, selected specifically for both its appearance and playability. The sand’ s particle shape and size distribution were carefully engineered to promote proper drainage while still providing consistent playing conditions and greater shot-making precision. The early feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, and we are confident these improvements will have a lasting impact on both course conditions and longterm sustainability.
We also saw tremendous success with our newly enhanced banquet kitchen during the Easter holiday weekend, one of our busiest times of the year, serving nearly 2,000 members and guests. The upgraded equipment and improved layout allowed our culinary team to operate more efficiently and deliver a high level of service during a very demanding period. Enhancements such as the expanded walk-in cooler and reconfigured dish area have already made a meaningful difference with the logistics of service. Going forward, the culinary team will be more self-sufficient as they will not have to constantly move food from one end of the Club to the other due to storage issues. It’ s a meaningful step in the right direction for our food and beverage operation and a direct reflection of our commitment to operational excellence.
As we look ahead to pool season, you will notice the pool deck resurfacing project has completely revitalized one of our most visible and well-loved amenities. The new surface, completed by Pool Creations and Beauty-Crete, uses a Sure-Crete polymer modified cement system with a Groco Gro-lac water-based pigmented sealer. They applied 110 gallons of sealer, used over two pallets of cement, and 14 cases of urethane joint sealant. Diamond grinders were used to remove the old surface followed by power washing the entire deck. All the cracks and missing surface were patched. The new surface was then applied to the bare concrete. The result is a four-coat system that not only looks beautiful but adds safety and longevity to the area. New pool depth tiles, fresh paint around the perimeter, new diving boards, a brand new stair structure for the high dive, and new slings installed on all pool deck chairs complete the refreshed look. This project was essential to address years of wear, staining, and cracking that had developed since the pool was first built. With over a century of combined experience among the professionals who
