In this edition of Lake Boys Galaxy of Stars, readers won’ t find the names of last season’ s Edina leaders Caleb Pittsley, Freddie Schneider, Casey Vandertop and Mason West, who happened to be the team’ s four leading scorers.
Somewhat of a Domino effect sent the Hornet foursome to the Junior hockey ranks.
Still in the fold for Edina are returnees from last season’ s 22-7-2 state tourney qualifier.
Here is our early-season Galaxy of players whose names should appear in the newspaper on a regular basis. Our sports staff will be looking for more stars as the season unfolds.
CHASE BJORGAARD
After scoring six touchdowns during Edina’ s football victory in the Prep Bowl, Chase Bjorgaard returns as a senior goalie for the Hornet hockey team. He posted an 11-1-1 record in his junior year with a goals-against average of 1.81.
DANNY BROWNING
Minnetonka senior captain Danny Browning is easy to spot on the hockey rink as a fast defenseman wearing
No. 13. He jumped into the offense last season for 15 points on seven goals and eight assists.
LANE GLENDE
An outstanding senior captain for the Maple Grove boys hockey team, Lane Glende returns as a Crimson scoring threat.
CHASE JERDEE
Minnetonka senior goalie Chase Jerdee had to wait his turn last season as teammate Ben Ferguson got most of the starts. Jerdee is now in charge of the net and posted a 3-0-1 record the first three( SUN PHOTO BY JOHN SHERMAN)
