North Wright County girls hockey enters the 2025-26 season with an influx of sophomores and juniors leading the way on both ends of the ice— scoring goals and protecting the net.
The cooperative program includes students from St. Michael-Albertville High School and Monticello High School. Sophomore Kendal Ringat was red hot from the start, posting backto-back three-point performances to spark NWC to a 2-1 start. She had two goals and one assist in a 7-0 win over Osseo / Park Center on Nov. 6 before her hat trick powered a 6-4 win over Chaska / Chanhassen on Nov. 14.
NWC finished 11-16 overall last season, including a 3-8 mark in the loaded Lake Conference, placing sixth, ahead of a Hopkins / Park team that went 0-4 in an abbreviated conference slate.
The Riverhawks reached the Section 5AA semifinals after opening with a 3-2 win over Roseville / Mahtomedi last February. Ringat set up junior Stevie May Lawrence for the game-winner eight minutes into the third period. In the 6-1 semifinal loss to Centennial / Spring Lake Park, Lawrence set up sophomore Charlotte Heckendorf for a second-period goal to

The Riverhawks graduated their top two scorers from last season: Danika Weiland and Roz Landkammer, who totaled 26 and 21 points, respectively. NWC also turns to junior McKenna Sale and sophomore Ellie Dwinnell after Nicole Schumm and Katie Lemke graduated in June.
Sale is 1-5, averaging 25.5 saves per game, including a season-high 48 in an 11-0 loss at Centennial / Spring Lake Park on Nov. 18. She stopped all 17 shots in the season-opening 7-0 win over Osseo / Park Center on Nov. 6 and turned away 27 of 30 shots in a 3-2 loss at Wayzata on Dec. 2.
Dwinnell made 20 saves in the win over Chaska / Chan.
Junior defenseman Alexa Schumm and Heckendorf return as the top point producers. Schumm had 18 points last season, including 11 assists, while Heckendorf had 12 points on eight goals. Through seven games this season, Schumm has two assists, while Heckendorf has five points on two goals. The scoring has come from more skaters this season, with 13 different skaters recording a point.
Junior Piper Peterson leads the team with two power-play goals, both coming against Chaska / Chan, and she added goals against Mounds View / Irondale( a 4-2 loss on Nov. 20) and in the season-opener against Osseo / Park Center.
Junior forward Stevie May Lawrance scored twice, including a shorthander, adding an assist for a three-point performance against OPC. She added an assist against Chaska / Chan.
