Elk River

Each year, to celebrate Newspapers in Education month, staff of the Star News teaches 5th grade students of Parker and Lincoln elementary about the news and advertising departments of a community newspaper.

After learning about the functions and services the editorial department provides our community, the kids were taught how to design an ad and then assigned to design one for a local business. Today, we’ re presenting you some of the ads they produced along with the winners of our contest. We loved the creativity that came forward. The kids did a great job! We think you will enjoy them, and hope you patronize the businesses that took part in the fun and rewarding endeavor.
