Transportation and Parking Gets Electric!

Anthony Turner
Marketing & TDM Outreach Coordinator for Transportation and Parking

Transportation and Parking Services expanded its commitment to environmental responsibility with the soft launch of new electric vehicle( EV) charging stations in late April.

The initiative supports sustainable transportation by providing low-emission commuting options for the campus community.
The new charging spaces are available to all valid ODU parking permit holders. Visitors may also utilize the stations by paying for hourly parking through the MobilePay system by texting the garage code to 25023. Visitors can also scan the MobilePay QR code to purchase hourly parking. Two charging stations are currently located at the following main campus garages:
A 43rd & Bluestone Avenue Parking Garage A Constant Center A 45th Street Parking
Garage A 49th Street Stadium
Garage
To utilize the stations, drivers must activate charging sessions through the ChargePoint app. Vehicles must be plugged in and actively charging while parked in these designated spaces. To ensure access and turnover for all users, there is a maximum stay of four hours per visit and a limit of one charging session per vehicle each day. Transportation & Parking Services’ goal is to support sustainable transportation by providing electric vehicle charging stations for campus use. By leveraging technological innovations, the University continues to provide professional and effective services in a dynamic setting.
