CONTRABAND
The GDC was honored to join the Correctional Leaders Association in making a presentation to the federal task force on Restoring American Airspace Sovereignty in Washington, D. C. As correctional agencies across the nation are facing an increasing challenge from the skies, we are looking to our federal partners to give us the statutory authority to mitigate unlawful drone threats in our airspace.
Since January 1, 2025, the Georgia Department of Corrections( GDC) has reported 353 drone incidents, resulting in the recovery of 75 drones, 86 arrests, and the interception of 843 cell

Commissioner Oliver joined American Correctional Association Executive Director Rob Green and Florida Department of Corrections Secretary Ricky Dixon to discuss the growing threat of drones delivering contraband into correctional facilities. He offers insight into how this dangerous trend impacts public safety and the steps Georgia is taking to combat it.
