Eden Prairie Library: A Century of Learning
The Eden Prairie Library serves as a community hub for residents seeking information, resources and lifelong learning. Located at 565 Prairie Center Drive, the facility provides a broad variety of programs and services for residents of all ages.
Library service has been available to the Eden Prairie community for over 100 years, beginning in 1924 when the first library opened in the Consolidated School. After closing in 1950, the community was served by the Hennepin County Library bookmobile until 1973 and later a reading center until 1986. In 2004, the library moved to its current location— the site of a former Lunds grocery store— and underwent a significant renovation in 2020.
The library features comfortable seating, electric-vehicle charging stations, an outdoor patio, large play and discovery spaces for children and teens and an abundance of natural light throughout the building.
Eden Prairie Library is one of 41 Hennepin County library locations. Systemwide services include:
In-person and online programming; millions of books, e-books and audiobooks; hold pickup and self-checkouts; public computers and Wi-Fi; printing, scanning, copying and faxing; and free reservable meeting rooms and study spaces.
Some of the Eden Prairie Library’ s specific services include: art exhibits; technology access; K-12 homework help and tutoring; language collections; meeting rooms and a seasonal seed library.
Hennepin County Library cardholders can manage their accounts online at any time and access hundreds of free online resources, such as:
