Quality Aviation Services at Flying Cloud Airport

Within the Metropolitan Airports Commission’ s reliever airport system is Flying Cloud Airport, the busiest of the six reliever airports in the Twin Cities metropolitan area. More than 100,000 takeoffs and landings are completed annually at the facility.
Located in Eden Prairie just 10 miles southwest of Minneapolis, Flying Cloud Airport is a hub for recreational aircraft, corporate jets and helicopters. The airport is home to several businesses that offer services ranging from aviation lessons to custom upholstery.
Inflight Aviation operates out of the former Elliott Aviation facility, following an extensive renovation of the 6-acre site. This location serves as the company’ s first fixed-base operation.
The airport is served by three runways and is home to more than 420 based aircraft.
One significant impact is the traffic that brings doctors into the metropolitan area for specialty surgeries and organ transplants.
In terms of outreach, Flying Cloud annually hosts Girls in Aviation Day in September, where attendees meet successful women in the aviation profession and explore the roles that science, technology, engineering and math( STEM) play in the industry.
The airport is overseen by the Flying Cloud Airport Advisory Commission, which is composed of seven appointed airport users and Eden Prairie community members who typically serve three-year terms. The commission advises the City Council and the Metropolitan Airports Commission— the owner and operator of the airport— on matters affecting airport operations and the community.
The commission meets quarterly at the Eden Prairie City Center, generally on the second Thursday of the month.
