CHNA Planning Process
The 2026 Renown Health and Northern Nevada Public Health Community Health Needs Assessment was conducted using a rigorous, community-centered planning process spanning approximately 12 months. The process was structured in five phases: Planning & Design, Community Engagement, Data Collection, Analysis & Synthesis, and Reporting & Dissemination.
Planning & Design
The CHNA process was guided by a multi-sector Steering Committee representing Renown Health, Northern Nevada Public Health, community-based organizations, academic partners, faith communities, social service agencies, and representatives of priority populations.
Assessment tools and planning frameworks were selected to align with regulatory requirements, including IRS Section 501( r)( 3), American Hospital Association( AHA) guidelines, and Public Health Accreditation Board( PHAB) standards, while incorporating established, evidence-informed planning resources. Together, these frameworks help ensure that the community health assessment and subsequent health improvement planning reflect recognized best practices and support coordinated, effective action.
Mobilizing for Action through Planning and Partnerships( MAPP) 2.0, a community-driven strategic planning framework developed by the National Association of County and City Health Officials( NACCHO), was selected to guide the activities and collaborative processes encompassed in the 2026 Renown Health and Northern Nevada Public Health Community Health Assessment.
