The Rush City School District No. 139 is a comprehensive pre-K to grade 12 district. With strong community support, the school system offers a variety of innovative educational programs. District students have a history of excellence in the classroom, on the athletic field, and in the fine arts. Rush City Schools demonstrates its commitment to excellence by promoting quality instruction, ensuring open communication among staff, parents, and community, and offering a variety of educational opportunities for students.
Students in Rush City schools experience the advantages of having exceptionally skilled and devoted educators, well-maintained facilities, supportive parents, community support, and, crucially, a student body that is both respectful and multi-talented.
Beginning with the purpose-built Early Childhood environments for the youngest students, all the way to the 1:1 chrome book learning at the high school, Rush City Schools are focused on creating global citizens who are lifelong learners.
Rush City Schools serve approximately 860 students with 62 teaching staff and 22 paraprofessionals. CE Jacobson Elementary( Early Childhood to Grade 6) was remodeled and expanded in 2003, and the Rush City High School( grades 7 to 12) was built in 1993. Both buildings have updated technology for students and teaching staff. The surrounding school grounds include the Aquatic / Recreation Center, Andy Saloka Field, Bill West Track, three separate playgrounds, tennis courts, and numerous softball and baseball fields. In an inclusive environment, both of the schools offer a full range of services for students with special needs with access to highly qualified specialists through the St. Croix River Education District( SCRED).
A family’ s educational journey begins with the district’ s Early Childhood Programs. In partnership with parents, young learners experience the best possible start with age-appropriate programming such as preschool and family education classes. All early childhood classes are offered at C. E. Jacobson Elementary.
Rush City offers Early Childhood Family Education( ECFE) classes for children from the time they are infants until they enter kindergarten. The program includes weekly classes for children and their parents, monthly themed classes, and special community events. The district provides free early childhood screening to all children before they start kindergarten, and the screenings take place during the school year.
A smooth and comfortable transition occurs as students enter kindergarten at C. E. Jacobson Elementary. Many students are already familiar with the school environment, school routines, and personnel, which helps them feel very safe and comfortable, thus ready to learn. The school( grades K to 6) provides a respectful and nurturing environment that promotes academic excellence and supports personal growth and development. School-wide expectations for positive interactions are in place and reinforced for all on an ongoing basis. Highly qualified staff create wonderful learning experiences for students. Homeroom classrooms are enhanced by staff members who have expertise in special education, physical education, music, and media.
Elementary students have the opportunity to take part in a variety of activities through the Community Education Program or local organizations. Programs such as the Knowledge Bowl, Academic Triathlon, and Project Seek challenge students and give them opportunities to compete academically, as well as expand their knowledge with a wide variety of unique experiences. Students interested in athletics can play hockey, softball, baseball, basketball, football, or golf, as well as run
