Welcome to the City of Harris, nestled in the heart of Chisago County, where their 1,132 residents take pride in preserving the city’ s open spaces, natural features, and rural charm while embracing controlled and thoughtful growth.
One of their beloved traditions is the Harris Farmers Market, held every Sunday from 11 a. m. to 3 p. m., from June through October. Here, you will find a bounty of local produce, plants, flowers, honey, wool / yarn, crafts, and many other unique items. Additionally, our Harris Club hosts an exciting City Festival on the last weekend of July, featuring activities such as“ Touch a Truck,” games for kids at the Ball Field, Bingo, a silent auction, a Car Show, a street dance, and a variety of vendors and food trucks.
Accessibility is one of their strengths, thanks to I-35, which connects them to a range of local churches and
businesses, including a gas station and convenience store, auto-repair shops, a bait shop, and the beloved hometown diner.
The city is governed by a five-member City Council, including Mayor Randy Carlson, and Councilmembers Craig Moline, Chell Borash, Garret Pearson, and Al Siedow. The Council meets at 7 p. m. on the second Monday of each month at City Hall. Their City Clerk position is currently open and Treasurer, Sue Riesing, ensures smooth operations, while they rely on PeopleService for water and wastewater management.
Their community is also fortunate to have the Harris Fire Department, staffed by volunteers who bring courage, dedication, and a strong work ethic to their roles. They always welcome new applicants to join this honorable team.
Police protection and law enforcement services are provided by the Chisago County Sheriff’ s Office, ensuring our community remains safe and secure.
Their municipal parks are a source of pride, offering residents and visitors beautiful recreational spaces. Schoolhouse Park on County Road 9 and Stark Ballfield on County Road 10 are equipped with restrooms, a pavilion, and grills. Fireman’ s Park on 440th, located along Goose Creek, provides a more rustic setting.
