Welcome to Thornton Academy Middle School!
The middle school years are a pivotal time in a student’ s growth and development. It is a time when curiosity deepens, confidence grows, and students begin to discover who they are as learners and individuals.
At Thornton Academy Middle School( TAMS), we believe these years deserve intentional care, expert guidance, and a school experience that is both challenging and deeply supportive.
TAMS students are encouraged to create, dream, and be inspired in a safe, nurturing environment, where learning comes to life in the classroom, on the stage, and on the playing field. Our small, close-knit community allows us to truly know each student and their family and to support them in meaningful and lasting ways.
We are proud to offer innovative and engaging programs designed to meet the diverse interests and strengths of our middle school students. Students work closely with our dedicated teachers, building strong relationships and creating classrooms where all learners are seen, supported, and challenged. This personalized approach is a defining feature of a TAMS education.
Each student is supported through a personal learning plan that serves as an academic roadmap throughout their middle school journey. Developed in partnership with the student and family, this plan reflects individual goals, interests, and strengths while also tracking important academic information such as progress, grades, and assessments. This intentional focus ensures that learning is purposeful, personalized, and responsive, rather than one size fits all.
Sharing a campus with the Thornton Academy Upper School offers opportunities not typically available at the middle school level. Students may access advanced coursework and enriching experiences while still benefiting from the structure, care, and expertise of certified middle school educators. We meet each student exactly where they are and guide them forward with enthusiasm, high expectations, and genuine care.
Beyond academics, TAMS students are encouraged to explore their passions and build confidence outside the classroom. Our offerings include clubs such as Art, Yearbook, Student Council, and our award-winning Robotics Team, as well as athletic opportunities throughout the year. Through these experiences students develop leadership, teamwork, and a strong sense of belonging.
Thornton Academy Middle School students feel known, challenged, and excited to learn each day. We encourage safe risk-taking, curiosity, and exploration, helping students discover what inspires them and preparing them for success in high school and beyond.
