ARCHITECTURE AND CONSTRUCTION CAREERS
Building & Construction: The House Fall( T1) [ Students may earn Articulated College Credit ] [ STEP only ] Prerequisite / Selection process: Grade of C or higher in high school Tech Ed class. Intended audience: Grades 11, and 12 One trimester / two periods = 1.0 credit This class will focus on the new construction process of building a home, it will take place over 2 school years. During this time students will be involved in the process of constructing a 3 bedroom home. Areas covered during the course of this class:
• Blueprint reading
• Framing
• Roofing
• Windows and door installation
• Electrical
• Plumbing
• Insulation
• Drywall
• Cabinetry
• Flooring
• Painting
• Siding
Instructional focus: Math-related program understandings are addressed; hands-on experience and use of power tools with emphasis on mathematical concepts related to carpentry
