Internal Transfer Criteria For students transferring to the BSN Program from the Health Studies or another major within Gwynedd Mercy University, requirements include:
• Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
• All science courses( i. e., Anatomy and Physiology I and II, Microbiology, and Chemistry), are completed with a grade of " C +" or higher.
• Students may not repeat a science or math course more than once.
• Provide an essay explaining the choice of nursing as a profession.
• Health Studies or other majors seeking admission to the BSN program who have between a 2.80 and 2.99 cumulative GPA must have earned at least a“ C +” in all and math pre-req courses and earn a 62 %( proficiency) or greater score on the TEAS.
Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing; Weekend Bachelor of Science in Nursing The Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Weekend BSN programs at Gwynedd Mercy University are designed for students who hold a bachelor’ s degree in another field. To be considered for admission to these second-degree bachelor’ s programs, you must provide the following:
• Completed Online Application
• Official transcripts from all colleges or universities attended, including proof of receipt of a bachelor’ s degree from an accredited college or university
• Applicants are expected to have earned a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher in their first bachelor ' s degree and to have earned C + or better in their science courses.
• Students may not repeat a science or math course more than once.
• Applicants also must provide proof of successful completion of required prerequisite courses o Nutrition and science courses must have been completed within the past 7 years to be considered for transfer into the program. Statistics and Developmental Psychology must have been completed within the last 10years. o Required courses include Anatomy and Physiology I and II with labs, Microbiology with lab, General Chemistry I and II with lab or Gwynedd Mercy University’ s Chemistry 111 For Allied Health Sciences and lab( includes organic and inorganic chemistry and biochemistry), Principles of Nutrition( taught by a registered dietician), Statistics, and Development Psychology( covering the life span). o These courses are offered by Gwynedd Mercy University. Following acceptance to the nursing program, students will need to take the following steps before beginning the nursing coursework:
• Pass a criminal background and child abuse records check
• * Undergo a drug screening and FBI fingerprinting *
• Provide a certificate of health from a primary care provider, including immunization information
• Provide proof of CPR certification and personal health insurance
Students will also need to obtain an annual flu vaccination and PPD screening throughout the duration of your program and meet vaccination requirements of your clinical sites.
