Teaching Social Studies PreK-4 |
This course is designed to familiarize students with learning targets, instructional methods, and resources for teaching social studies in grades pre-K to 4; the course also is designed to enhance the scope of students’ social studies knowledge through lecture, class discussion, written assignments / projects, and student demonstration. The course will introduce students to academic standards developed by the National Council for the Social Studies( NCSS), the National Geographic Society, and the PA Department of Education’ s Standards Aligned System( SAS). Students will develop lesson plans, based on the Danielson Framework for Teaching’ s four domains, and will include best practices in instruction and assessment.
