Practicum |
This course provides students with an entry-level, supervised field experience in school or clinical mental health counseling. Students progressively assume professional roles and responsibilities in accordance with standards established by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs( CACREP). The practicum is completed under the supervision of an approved site supervisor and a university supervisor. Over the 14-week course, students complete a minimum of 100 fieldwork hours, including at least 40 direct client contact hours. Students must also participate in 1.5 hours of mandatory weekly synchronous group supervision throughout the course. Additional requirements are outlined in the Counseling Program’ s Internship Handbook. Prerequisite: CNS 501; 537 for master ' s degree students. |
