Database Administration and Security
This course focuses on the performance, integrity, and security of relational databases. Mapping to the Microsoft Administering a SQL Database Infrastructure Exam( 70-764), topics include configuring data access and auditing, database server backups and restores, monitoring SQL Server instances, maintaining high availability, and disaster recovery. Through hands-on labs students will learn client / server architecture, connection encryption, how to configure data collection for analysis, statistic management, and implementing failover cluster instances. Emphasis will be placed on current security threats such as SQL injections, data leaks, privilege escalation, stolen
backups, and security policies.

Networking Administration
A more advanced study of computer systems and network administration using the latest Microsoft Server operating system. Topics include management of database, print, DHCP, DNS and other servers. Students will gain hands-on practical experience working with Windows Active Directory. File management, virtualization, Microsoft Azure cloud computing services are also discussed. Various security issues facing networks today as
well as emerging technologies will be addressed.

Computer Forensics
This course introduces the student to the field of computer forensics and digital investigations. Students will learn
the skills necessary to launch and complete a successful computer investigation through hands-on data
acquisition, analysis, and reporting. Students will learn the components necessary to create an effective, efficient,
and secure computer forensic lab. Popular tools and forensic methodologies currently used in industry will be
introduced. Network forensics and the examination of non-traditional devices will also be discussed. Students will
complete hands-on labs using the latest software and techniques, along with professional-grade hardware such
as the FRED forensic workstation used by law enforcement and special forces.

IT Security
In this course students acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to securely manage and operate an IT infrastructure. Students will learn fundamental security basics such as the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data in motion and data at rest, resilient network configurations, network hardening, encryption and authentication, intrusion detection, cryptography, and PKI infrastructure. In addition to becoming familiar with the threat landscape, students will learn how to identify and mitigate threats. Virtualization and storage
security, incident response, and disaster recovery best practices will be discussed.

Students will gain valuable hands-on experience creating multimedia applications that can be used for a wide variety of purposes. This course provides an overview of multimedia and its professional applications in websites, gaming, education, marketing, and entertainment. Using the latest technologies, software, and techniques, students will integrate multiple forms of media to create interactive website accessible to all users and platforms. 3.00

Capstone
This course is designed to be taken at the end of the CIS program, applying the culmination of knowledge gained in all program courses and incorporating many facets of the major. Students will work in teams to design, develop and implement a solution to a real-world IT problem, or work independently on a comprehensive research project. After creating a portfolio of work from their courses over their entire career in the CIS program, students
will present their project work at the end of the semester.
