AUP / AUF: Audit Courses may be audited with an advisor ' s consent. Students are not permitted to change the status of a course from“ audit” to“ credit” or“ credit” to“ audit” after the end of the drop / add period. A matriculated student is limited to one audit course per semester.
Unless the student is enrolled in the Integrated Studies program, a student granted audit status will not be responsible for the assignments or examinations required for the course.
Although no credit is received, the faculty will enter a letter grade at the end of the semester. Auditing students earning an A- through D- equivalent( considering modified course work) will earn an AUP on their transcript, demonstrating successful audit completion of a course. Auditing students earning a final grade of F will be assigned AUF on their transcript. The same tuition and fees are charged for an audit as for a credit course. Alumni and senior citizens pay only the registration fee when auditing a class.
Policy for Students Called to Military Service Obligation
Scope of Policy & Rationale: GMercyU is governed by federal and state law on the duties to and the rights of students who are members of the US Armed Forces, including the National Guard and the reserves, when they are temporarily unable to attend classes or have to suspend their studies due to service requirements. This policy is intended to conform fully to pertinent federal and state laws.
Policy I. Extensive Absence or Withdrawal from courses for a military service obligation: Students called to a military service obligation should contact the University Registrar. Each student has the following options:
1. If a student is called to a military service obligation for a period of two weeks or less, it willbe considered an excused absence. Students should work with their instructors to make up any missed work or assignments. If a student is reported with an excused absence for 2 consecutive weeks of an online course due to military service obligation, the student will not be administratively withdrawn.
For any absences longer than two weeks, students will have the following options: a. If the student wishes to drop a course prior to the official drop / add deadline, they may do so and receive a full refund. b. If the student wishes to drop a course after the official drop / add deadline, they may do so and receive a full refund.
2. Receive an " Incomplete( I)" if eligible, according to university policy. If the student chooses this option but is unable to fulfill the course completion requirement( s), regardless of the circumstances, the student cannot later choose option( a) or( b) above. Students should provide advance written notice with supporting documents of their military service obligation to the University Registrar. a. If unable to provide advance notice of the military service due to military necessity, students will submit at the time of reenrollment an attestation that the student performed service in the uniformed services that necessitated the student ' s absence from the institution.
