BHS in Occupational Science degree awarded with 124 credits Academic Standards / Grade Requirements: A grade of a“ C” is required of all major courses.
Attendance Policy: In the Occupational Science program, professional knowledge and skills are integrated through classroom, fieldwork, and service-learning experiences. Punctuality and regular attendance are expected in every Occupational Science course. Instructors take class attendance into account when determining grades.
1. Students are responsible for contacting an instructor in the event of an absence, lateness, or early dismissal( when able to do so safely).
2. Up to 3 total absences, episodes of lateness and / or leaving early from a single course are allowed without penalty for fall, spring, and summer terms.
3. Having 4 or more total absences, episodes of lateness and / or leaving early from a single course in the fall, spring, or summer terms will result in a 3-point final grade deduction from that respective course.
4. Examinations missed due to absence, lateness and / or leaving early will only be rescheduled at the discretion of the instructor and if proper notification of the absence, lateness, or leaving early was given prior to the exam. Students are responsible for all material covered in the course regardless of missed class time.
Time to Completion: A BHS in Occupational Science can be completed in 4 years with 124 credits completed.
OT Program Fees: Students will be required to pay OT Program Fees of $ 200 for each academic term( summer, fall, spring) beginning their senior year. The OT Program fee pays for membership to AOTA, POTA, electronic medical records software, Typhon student tracking and e-portfolio, NBCOT exam preparation, program polo shirt, and ExamSoft testing software. Additional costs to the students can include: graduate health insurance; Complio clearance, health and wellness tracking; American Heart Association Heartsaver First Aid, CPR, and AED certification; health clearances( e. g., annual flu shot, physical, and immunizations); uniform attire if a fieldwork site holds dress requirements; transportation to the university and fieldwork sites; and required books / course materials( approximately $ 2,000 / year).
