Course Withdrawal Policy:
• Students must submit a Course Withdrawal form to their Academic Advisor in order to initiate the withdrawal process.
• The student will receive a“ W” grade and charges will be placed according to the Bursar’ s Office Refund Policy.
• The deadline to withdraw from an online course varies depending on the length of thecourse.
• If request is submitted after the policy deadline, withdrawal request will be denied. The student will be informed via GMercyU email and a final grade for the course will be submitted by the instructor. All email requests must come from the student’ s GMercyU email.
Time to Completion: The maximum time allotted for completion of all graduate degree programs at Gwynedd Mercy University is six years.
Experiential Learning: Students are responsible for their own transportation to and from off campus experiential learning opportunities.
Masters in Special Education 4 + 1 Program Accreditation Status: Pennsylvania Department of Education Program Degree Level: Master of Science in Special Education, 4 + 1 Program Modality: Mixed – On-line and On-ground
Program Description: The 4 + 1 Masters in Special Education( MSED) is designed for the preparing professional who desires a seamless pathway to the preferred terminal degree academic requirement for PA Permanent Certification in special education. Preparation for Professional Licensure: The course content aligns with the PDE competencies required as a pathway to PDE Special Education certification.
Program Learning Outcomes: PLO1: Demonstrate mastery of PDE professional competencies through course requirements / products, lesson presentations and field experiences. PLO2: Demonstrate knowledge of the theoretical, philosophical and ethical perspectives that affect current educational trends in the United States. PLO3: Exhibit an appropriate disposition for teaching through the demonstration of compassion, integrity, moral and social responsibility in all interactions respecting the uniqueness, dignity, and diversity of the individual.

Students are admitted during the second semester of their first academic year. Transfer students may be admitted at the time of admission to the Education Program. To remain in good standing in the 4 + 1 Masters Program, the student needs to meet the minimum requirements for the BS certification track.
