Program Description: The Accounting Minor provides students across various disciplines the opportunity to gain foundational knowledge in accounting principles, practices, and applications. This 18-credit minor includes two required courses in Principles of Accounting. Students also complete four elective courses from areas such as Intermediate Accounting, Advanced Accounting, Auditing, Personal Taxes, and Accounting Information Systems.
The minor equips students from finance, management, marketing, sport management, and even non-business majors with a marketable skillset, enhancing employability and career flexibility. It also supports students planning to pursue professional certifications( e. g., CPA, CMA) or graduate studies in business. More importantly, a strong understanding of accounting, the language of business, and data analytics will assist students in any business discipline advance throughout their careers.
Program Student Learning Outcomes:
Students who complete the Minor in Accounting will be able to: 1. Demonstrate understanding of core financial and managerial accounting concepts. 2. Apply accounting principles to analyze and interpret financial statements. 3. Understand the regulatory, ethical, and technological context of accounting practices. 4. Utilize accounting tools to support business decision-making. 5. Communicate financial information effectively to stakeholders.

Internal / External Transfers: Admissions requirements for external transfer students are the same as the University. Internal transfers should contact program chair.
Academic Standards / Grade Requirements: Students must earn a grade of“ C” or higher in all required courses in order for the course to count toward completion of the minor.
Academic Progress, Probation, and Program Dismissal: Students must successfully complete all required courses in the program. A student who fails a required course may repeat the course once. If a student fails the same required course twice, the student may be dismissed from the program. All other academic progress and probation policies follow University guidelines.
