LETTER FROM THE CEO
THE MICHAEL J. FOX FOUNDATION 2025 YEAR IN REVIEW

Bold Ideas, Big Actions, Tangible Results

This year marks 25 years since we launched The Michael J. Fox Foundation with a single, urgent goal: to speed better treatments and a cure for Parkinson’ s disease. We’ ve come far in our short history— not only in what we know and how we collaborate, but in what we can achieve together.
Parkinson’ s research is poised to make greater gains in the next five years than was possible in the last 25.
This year has delivered milestone moments that we could only dream of— from advances in Parkinson’ s genetics to unprecedented momentum toward first-inclass therapies that could slow or stop disease progression. This report details the bold ideas coming to life in real time: precision medicine approaches that address an individual’ s personal biological profile, state-of-the-art brain imaging techniques that can reveal disease processes in the living brain, and smarter, faster clinical trials. These aren’ t distant goals: They’ re real, happening now, and built on years of groundwork and a relentless pursuit of answers.
So much of this progress can be traced back to our landmark study, the Parkinson’ s Progression Markers Initiative( PPMI). What began as a five-year study has become a global engine of discovery that has transformed what’ s possible in Parkinson’ s research and positioned the field to move further, faster, together. The study expanded again in 2025, sharpening its focus on Parkinson’ s biology with the goal of preventing the disease entirely.
We’ re proud that the Foundation— buoyed by this community— has catalyzed that transformation and is driving real results
