Primary Source Verification
The amount of time that MSPs are taking to complete the primary source verification process after receiving a provider’ s completed initial application appears to be speeding up. The survey showed an increase in respondents saying that it takes 15 days or less to complete primary source verification( 29 % in 2020 vs 35 % in 2025). Looking back further to 2018, 27 % of respondents said it took 15 days or less.

Provider Information Management Systems: Adoption Rates
Our data indicates there is sizable room for growth in provider‐focused information management systems.
48 % of organizations have yet to even assess a digital“ portfolio” or“ wallet” that makes collecting, storing, and sharing credentialing data easier.
20 % have already deployed such a system. 19 % are actively evaluating one.
When asked why they pursued implementing this type of system, 63 % of medical staff services leaders cited“ shortening credentialing time” as the primary driver.
Given rising provider mobility and relentless pressure to accelerate onboarding, adoption is likely to keep climbing. Besides trimming turnaround times, these systems simplify the application experience for providers, an important boost to provider satisfaction.
