Letter from the CEO

From the earliest days of The Michael J. Fox Foundation, we were privileged to know and work with the late Mrs. Lily Safra, chairwoman of the Edmond J. Safra Foundation for more than 20 years.
Our longstanding partnership with the Edmond J. Safra Foundation has opened the door to opportunities we never imagined, including addressing the crucial need for more specialty care providers for our worldwide Parkinson’ s community— and for those specialists to also be the preeminent experts that will push patient-relevant research forward.
With each new training center and newly minted Edmond J. Safra Fellow, this network— made up of some of the best and brightest in research and clinical care— broadens its reach, impact and prestige. This was our intention as we partnered to launch this Fellowship.
The Edmond J. Safra Network is well positioned to advance breakthroughs that translate to tangible improvement for patients and families. Our Fellows serve as critical dotconnectors and partners to families navigating this disease, and the vast community of scientists working to stop it.
Edmond J. Safra Fellows train as clinician-researchers, simultaneously seeing patients while participating in research. This dual focus helps connect patients directly with innovative studies while ensuring the patient experience stays at the center. While The Michael J. Fox Foundation is laser-focused on responding to the tremendous opportunities in science, we never lose sight of the patients on the receiving end. We thank the Edmond J. Safra Foundation for sharing our passion and appreciation for how powerful that research-to-care continuum truly is.
I know the Edmond J. Safra Foundation shares our immense pride in everything the Network has already accomplished. And both our organizations appreciate that it is one of the greatest force multipliers for the field.
