St. Louis Park
COMMUNITY GUIDE 2025
School supports thousands of learners
Unlike the boundaries of some suburban school districts, the St. Louis Park School District’ s boundaries closely align with the city’ s border.
The St. Louis Park School Board, which operates independently of the city government, sets the policies for school programs.
Superintendent Dr. Carlondrea Hines, working with school district staff members, carries out the board’ s policy decisions. Hines was named the school’ s new superintendent in the spring of 2024.
The board typically meets at 6:30 p. m. on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month. Livestreams are available at slpschools. org. Recordings are available at youtube. com / c / stlouisparkpublicschools.
School board elections are in November during odd-numbered years, and so in 2025, three school board seats will be on the ballot. Each board member is elected for a four-year term.
The district began with just 51 students in 1888 but grew to more than 11,000 students by the mid-1960s, according to the St. Louis Park Historical Society. The school district currently serves more than 4,500 students.
As St. Louis Park’ s residents grew older, enrollment gradually declined but eventually stabilized. The district serves city residents as well as students from nearby cities who open-enroll in the district.
The district has three traditional elementary schools serving students in kindergarten through fifth grade. They are Aquila Elementary, 8500 W. 31st St.; Peter Hobart Elementary, 6500 W. 26th St.; and Susan Lindgren Elementary, 4801 W. 41st St. The schools are authorized participants of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme.
St. Louis Park also operates Park Spanish Immersion Elementary School at 9400 Cedar Lake Road for students in kindergarten through fifth grade. Students study the same curriculum as other district students, with all classes taught in Spanish.
St. Louis Park Middle School, 2025 Texas Ave. S., serves students in sixth through eighth grades. The school has gained International Baccalaureate authorization for the IB Middle Years Programme.
St. Louis Park High School, 6425 W. 33rd St., serves students in grades 9-12. The school offers advanced placement and honors courses, an International Baccalaureate program, mentoring and apprenticeship opportunities, an extensive program for deaf and hard-of-hearing students and assistance for English as a second language students.
The school district offices are located at the Central Community Center, 6300 Walker St. The district’ s general number is 952-928-6000. The school board’ s general message line is 952-928-6040. Visit slpschools. org for more information about the district.
