Oak Park Heights holds many resources

Residents and visitors seek out the scenic beauty, family-friendly neighborhoods, and regional shopping of Oak Park Heights. With nearly 5,000 residents, the city lies along Highway 36 beside the St. Croix River.
A modern engineering marvel, the St. Croix Crossing bridge links Oak Park Heights to its neighbors in western Wisconsin. The towering Xcel Energy Allen S. King Power Plant, scheduled for decommission in 2028, can be seen for miles.
The city started out as a 10-block plat, called Oak Park, located in what is now known as Baytown Township.
Today the city has a wide array of restaurants and shopping, ranging from groceries to home improvements and from discount retail to auto dealers.
Oak Park Heights is home to seven parks and an extensive trail system for walking, biking, and running.
The city has been recognized as a Tree City USA Community for over 40 years, and they’ ve been honored with a Growth Award for seven years.
They embrace the proximity to the river with a beautiful scenic overlook spot on Lookout Trail. The newest public water access, announced by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources in April 2025, is located directly north of the St. Croix Crossing
Bridge.
Oak Park Heights is also home to Boutwells Landing, a senior living community built on a 100-acre site that offers a variety of senior living options.
The Oak Park Heights City Council typically meets at 6 p. m. on the second and fourth Tuesday of every month.
