Supportive services and housing in the St. Croix Valley community serve all stages of life, and older residents are encouraged to get involved in local organizations.
As a trusted, local nonprofit, Community Thread maximizes resources and engages volunteers to improve the quality of life for adults and their families in the area. This is accomplished by providing services aimed at older adults, particularly those who desire to age in place, and by advocating for and supporting volunteerism throughout the St. Croix Valley to meet community needs.
Community Thread has two community centers in the St. Croix Valley, one in Stillwater and one in Bayport. These welcoming sites receive over 10,000 visits per year and offer adults age 50-plus

support to remain independent and participate in community life through activities and volunteer opportunities. Featured activities include aerobics, Tai Chi, cards, bridge, bingo, painting, knitting, and card-making classes. Older adults can also get information on community volunteer opportunities, support services, resource and referral information, safe driver classes, and free tax-preparation services.
Community Thread also offers a free bus connector loop that travels between several living facilities, healthcare facilities, Cub Foods, Target, and Walmart.
In addition to senior activities, the area has many housing options. Boutwells Landing in Oak Park Heights is a comprehensive senior living community including townhomes, apartments, assisted living, memory care, traditional long-term care, and transitional care.
Croixdale Senior Living has been a part of the Bayport community for decades, offering apartment-style living and memory care facilities.
Other options include the Ann Bodlovick Apartments, Arbor Glen Senior Living, Briarcliff Apartments, Green Twig Villas, Oak Park Senior Living, Oak Ridge Place, Raymie Johnson Estates, and Rivertown Commons.
