Small classes, big opportunities at Holy Angels

Richfield’ s Academy of Holy Angels takes pride in its small class sizes while offering students big opportunities in education, faith, athletics, activities and community.
Established in 1931, the private, Catholic, college preparatory high school welcomes a diverse student body from 110 grade schools across the Twin Cities and provides a curriculum of excellence to more than 600 students in grades 9-12.
AHA students, faculty and staff, parents, alumni and friends are actively committed to one common goal: educating each student for life. The culture of the school is one where individuals respect each other, serve those in need and embrace each other’ s differences.
The school provides its students with academics through a wide catalogue of courses, which includes 20 Advanced Placement classes. The school offers specialty diplomas in both STEM and theater. Home of the Stars, 90 % of AHA students are active and engaged in more than 50 different co-curricular sports and activities. In the past several years, the Stars have earned more than 30 state tournament appearances – ranging from soccer to football to Knowledge Bowl.
Families and staff take pride in their focus on service. For instance, the student government conducts a schoolwide
Christmas basket drive each year, providing more than 40 local families with household items, food and gifts. In 2017, AHA received the MISF School Program award for The AHA Way, a program that was developed to create a caring, welcoming, inclusive and respectful school environment.
In 2020, a student-led Diversity Club was founded to create a safe space for students of color to feel welcome and free to speak of their experiences, and to allow for discussion and connection within the school community. In 2021, AHA was named a Cognia School of Distinction, being one of 59 schools worldwide to receive the honor and the only school in Minnesota to receive this honor.
After operating as a female-only school, AHA converted to a co-educational model in 1972. The iCenter for STEM Education opened in 2021 and is the school’ s most recent capital project; it includes over 7,500 square feet of space to support ever-changing and growing curriculum needs.
