EN 17353 INCREASED VISIBILITY
Certification for increased visibility for medium risk situations .
This certification specifies requirements for increased visibility in the form of clothing , which signals the user ’ s presence . The enhanced visibility equipment is intended to provide a clearer visibility of the wearer in medium risk situations under all daylight conditions and / or under the illumination of vehicle headlights or searchlights in the dark .
THREE CATEGORIES OF VISIBILITY
Type A > For protection in daylight , minimal amount of fluorescent material .
Type B > For protection in the evening and at night . Garments certified according to EN 17353 type B must either have loosely hanging reflectors ( B1 ), have removable reflectors and / or fixed reflective material on legs or arms ( B2 ), or meet the minimum requirement for reflective material with reflective bands across both chest and legs / arms ( B3 ).
Type AB > Protection in daylight , dusk and at night . Garments certified according to EN 17353 type AB must have both fluorescent and reflective materials , or materials that have both properties . AB2 around arms and legs . AB3 around torso or around torso and arms / legs .
The garment must be completely closed and must not be covered to ensure visibility . Visibility is also dependent on use ( soiling , etc .), care ( cleaning , repairs , etc .) and storage . The lifespan of the garment depends on use , maintenance and care .
