Crystal Frolics fills the city with joy and merriment

Crystal Frolics, a tradition in the community since the 1960s, electrifies Crystal’ s Becker and Welcome parks for a much anticipated Thursday through Sunday weekend in the middle of July.
An all-ages family festival with llamas, free inflatables, summer treats, games and live music set the tone for a weekend of Frolics-style fun. Grass volleyball, pickleball, a benefit 5K and the coveted softball tournament get athletes together for friendly competition, while the Cooper Falcons football team serve up Frolics fare like brats on the grill and juicy pulled pork sandwiches. In the shade, the West Metro Firefighter’ s Relief beer tent pours cold brews while New Hope Lions Club leads bingo.
The festival hosts a Makers Business Market for artists to sell their creations and business representatives to connect, while tables from the Hennepin County Sheriff’ s Office, Robbinsdale Schools and the City of Crystal. One lucky winner finds the hidden Crystal Ball each year and earns a prize. There’ s also a NEAR food drive and donation information throughout the parks.
The Crystal Frolics board meets monthly at the Crystal Community Center.
