TEAM Rosario-Matias sets pace on offense; Afuye, Olson return to anchor defense
Senior running back Emilio Rosario-Matias averaged 134 rushing yards per game a year ago.

Some key holdovers and even more new faces will combine this fall as the Stillwater football team attempts to improve upon their 4-5 record and thirdplace finish in the Metro East Sub-District standings a year ago.
The Ponies were solid on both sides of the ball last season, but inconsistent play led to losses in four of their last five games. Stillwater was balanced offensively while averaging nearly 320 yards and 23.4 points per game. The Ponies gained nearly the same number of yards on
the ground( 1,445) as they did through the air( 1,433).
Senior Emilio Rosario- Matias led the resurgent ground game for the Ponies. After averaging just 3.5 yards per carry and 90.2 rushing yards per game as a team in 2023, Rosario-Matias racked up 1,207 yards on 191 carries( 6.2 avg.) with 12 touchdowns for the Ponies last fall. He also caught 26 passes for 205 yards and a touchdown on the way to earning all-district honors.
Rosario-Matias already ranks No. 8 on the program’ s career rushing list with 2,084 yards and No.
