Youn( Amherst). Record-setting Ponies receiver Tanner Schmidt from the Class of 2024 has joined the program at Golden West College after transferring from Minnesota-Duluth after one season.
Additional alumni suiting up for college programs are: Max Shikenjanski( Minnesota), Charlie Gleason( Air Force), Tare Porbeni( Princeton), Tyler Wiese( Wisconsin-La Crosse), Christian Hoveland( St. Scholastica), Landon Weyer( St. John’ s), Thomas Jacobs( St. John’ s), Eric Jurek( St. John’ s), Jayden Leach( St. John’ s), Connor McCormick( Gustavus), Zach Hunter( St. John’ s), Connor Parker( Waldorf), and Charles Goodland( Gustavus).
PTC Scholarships Ryan Silbernagel was last year’ s recipient the Ponies Touchdown Club Scholarship. The PTC has presented one or more $ 1,000 scholarships to a graduating Stillwater football player each year since 2013. The scholarship recognizes a graduating senior who demonstrates excellence on and off the gridiron.
Previous recipients have included: Joe Hoheisel( 2024), Thomas Blair( 2023), Austin Buck( 2022), Ian Hanlon( 2021), Trey Kruse( 2020), Will Gleason( 2019), Charlie Richman( 2018), Carl Tomlinson( 2018), Ben Peterson( 2017), Josh Wille( 2016), Kevin Jones( 2016), Nick Johnson( 2015), Jake Olson( 2014) and Aaron Romportl( 2013).
In 12 years, the PTC has awarded $ 14,000 in scholarships.
Tackling Cancer Stillwater remains one of the top contributors each year for the Randy Shaver Cancer Research and Community Fund. The Ponies raised a new record of $ 27,695 during homecoming last fall— increasing the program’ s overall total to $ 190,772 since the Tackle Cancer campaign began in 2012. Last year’ s total surpassed the previous record of $ 26,784 raised in 2023.
“ Raising funds to fight this ruthless disease has been a passion of our players, coaches, families, and programs since 2012,” Ponies coach Beau LaBore said after last year’ s total was announced.
The Stillwater football program collected $ 27,695 in 2024 and has now raised more than $ 190,000 since the Tackle Cancer campaign began in 2012.
