Emery Showcases His Strong Faith for the Rebels. By: Brad Davis
Tucker Emery was enjoying a dream year in his junior season at Riverside when he would suffer a significant leg injury in the 2A State Championship baseball game. The outlook looked bleak, with a return of after the new year, or early December likely. However, the Rebel senior’ s faith, determination, and hard work would get him back in action almost a month before expected.“ Getting injured is never something you hope for; in fact, it’ s quite the opposite,” Emery shared.“ During that moment, I had no idea what happened. I just knew that there was nothing going to keep me from getting back on the field that day. It was scary, and I didn’ t know what was going on, but in my head, I knew that no matter what it was, it was not bigger than winning that game. Recovery is very hard, especially in this case when it is not a quick one. My heart dropped when they told me 5-6 months before I could return to sports. Luckily, my physical therapists at In Motion Physical Therapy have been awesome.”
Emery returned to the floor against conference rival Bay on November 14th to help lead a Riverside Rebel team that needed his leadership and experience.“ We hear it a lot, but seniors are supposed to be leaders on the team,” he said.“ Having this much experience is a very valuable tool if we use it right. I’ ve always been a voca
l guy on the court, and I don’ t see that changing at all this year. In both sports, I will be stepping into a bigger role and I’ m so excited and ready for that. During the beginning of basketball season, I will have a chance to see things differently from the sidelines. I hope to use this different perspective to learn and share with my teammates that are on the court.” Emery played key minutes off of the bench last season for a Rebel team that would win 30 games and claim their second straight 2A-3 conference title. He was also a pivotal part of the Rebel lineup that claimed the 2A state title in baseball.
This season, his leadership and experience will be instrumental in the success of both teams, but it ' s his faith that he rests on and credits for getting through a tough time.“ Jesus Christ is the sole reason that I am who I am,” Emery explained.“ He is the reason that I’ m able to have peace and joy; even when times are hard. Life isn’ t easy, but knowing that Jesus walks with me gives me hope. Because I know that whatever happens to me, he’ s got a plan and it’ s better than whatever I have in mind for myself. I have faith that he’ ll deliver me through whatever life throws my way. But even if it doesn’ t go the way I want it to, I’ ll praise and do everything I can to glorify him through that.”
Fearless is a word that would best describe Tucker Emery’ s faith. He holds steadfast in his beliefs, and examples of Emery’ s faith are always on display. Whether showing examples of faith on the field or court, proclaiming his beliefs on social media, or sharing it with opposing players in the heat of battle, Tucker Emery holds steadfast in his beliefs.“ Spreading the gospel is a huge part of being a Christian,” the Riverside senior proclaimed.“ I know that Jesus is the only answer to all of our problems, and sharing that to
