teammate Thatcher Durham joined the club with us. That’ s a big accomplishment for three people on the same team to reach the 1000 point club. We won the conference two years in a row but this year we wanted to win it undefeated, but we fell short to a very talented Bay team at home. 3. What has been your favorite memory as an athlete? My favorite memory as an athlete has been winning three state championships in tennis. 4. What all can we expect from you on the baseball diamond this year? Talk about your approach at the plate and where you plan to be at on the field. You can expect a 330-430 average from me this season. I am not a power hitter. I use my speed to get extra bases. My approach at the plate is backside line drives into the gap. I will be playing shortstop and coming into close when coach needs me. 5. Discuss pitching this season for Riverside. What is in your pitching arsenal? Pitching for Riverside is tough. We have seven or eight guys that can step on the mound at any time and throw. I am a closer so my arsenal looks a little different from others. When I come in I’ m going to offer a fastball, changeup, and a curveball. 6. You guys have a really tough baseball schedule this season. What will it be like playing so many tough opponents and what will that do for you guys come postseason? We play a lot of big schools that are really good competition. The really good competition is going to get us ready and set us up for postseason play. 7. You guys enter baseball season as one of the very best in class 2A. How important is it for you all to bring home the first state championship in school history? I believe we are the best in the class of 2A. We got a really good Woodlawn team up there with us, but I think this year we are going to take it all. It would be really fun and mean a lot to make history for Riverside. It would mean a lot to us players to end our career on a state championship. 8. Discuss what it is like playing for Coach Hogard. It is amazing playing for Coach Hogard. We get better every day, year round. He pushes us to be our best we can possibly be and we get things done. He is a great person outside of baseball and will do anything you need him to do. 9. Who all do you expect to have big seasons from and why? I expect big seasons from myself, Cash, Maddox and Zain. I expect to have a big season on both sides of the ball because I should be hitting over. 400 again and not committing any errors. I expect a big season from the three of them on the mound. With them being on the mound and throwing their best every time out is going to help us get to where we want to be.
