This upcoming basketball season feels really important to me, not just because I want us to win games, but because it’ s my senior year and I know my role on the team is shifting into more of a leadership position. Playing for Coach Timms for the last few years has taught me a lot about what it means to lead, whether that be showing up, staying composed when things get tough, or just setting the tone for others. My focus has to stay on what I can control: my effort, my attitude, and how I support my teammates. This season, I want to be the kind of leader who not only pushes others but also makes them feel valued and confident. That means communicating well on the court, staying positive even when things don’ t go our way, and leading by example in practices and games. If we hold ourselves accountable and encourage each other to believe in ourselves, I think we’ ll have the kind of season that we’ ve worked for. What has your experience been like playing for Coach Timms? Playing for Coach Timms has been a really transformative experience. He’ s an experienced coach who’ s helped us be successful over the years, and being part of his program has really raised my expectations for myself as a player and as a teammate. He challenges us to be disciplined, to compete at a high level every single day, and to realize that success comes from everyone doing their part on the team, not just one person. We’ ve gone through so much adversity and had some really tough practices, but he pushes us hard because he knows what it takes to win. Sometimes that can be tough in the moment, but he’ s taught us that if you trust the process and put in the work, you will start to see the results that you have been working for. You now have a new coach in softball. What will that be like this year especially in your senior season? I think having a new coach for softball this year will definitely feel different, especially since it’ s my senior season, and I’ ve always played for my dad before. There’ s a mix of excitement and nerves because it’ s a big change, but I also see it as a chance to grow. I know it’ s my last year, so I want to make the most of it. Part of that means stepping up as a leader, whether that be through helping my teammates adjust to the changes or leading by example. I want to be someone my teammates can count on through this transition. Even though it feels a little bit different not having my dad coaching me for my senior season, I’ m choosing to see it as an opportunity to finish out my high school career on a high note, build relationships with my new teammates and coach, and leave behind a positive example for the younger players. Who is a player from the past that you have enjoyed playing with and why? In the past, I have had some great teammates that I have loved playing with. I wouldn’ t necessarily pick just one person because all of them were amazing teammates that I feel had my back, no matter what was going on or what adversity we were facing. If you had to pick one team you just absolutely love to beat and can ' t stand to lose to who would it be and why? Although we’ ve gone up against many strong teams, the one I always love to beat and hate to lose to is BIC. There’ s a long-standing rivalry between Riverside and BIC, and that history adds an extra level of intensity every time we face off with one another. Those games are always physical, emotional, and highly competitive, and the energy in those games is unmatched, with both sides giving everything they ' ve got. Because of this, playing BIC has always been one of my favorites. What has it been like to win two state championships and have a runner-up in softball? Most would dream of just playing in one title game but you all have played in three and won two. Winning two state championships and making it to the finals three straight years has been an unbelievable experience. Most players dream of just getting to do it once, so to even get the opportunity to be there three times has been a really special experience. It’ s all we’ ve known since our freshman season. The championships are memories we’ ll never forget, and even the runner-up finish taught us a lot about how to respond to adversity. Overall, I feel grateful to have been a part of something so successful and meaningful over these past three years. What do you want Riverside fans to remember you for? I want to be remembered as someone who did my part for my team, led by example, and represented my school with pride.
