County offers wide range of services
The city of Lakeville is located in west central Dakota County, which has a population of around 440,000 residents.
The Dakota County Courthouse is located in Hastings on the county’ s eastern edge. The county also operates the Western Service Center in Apple Valley where people can obtain some court and county services.
Lakeville is part of County Commissioner District 6, a seat which is held by Commissioner Mary Liz Holberg( maryliz. holberg @ co. dakota. mn. us or 651-438-4243).

The largest is Lebanon Hills Regional Park, which provides activities for all ages. Containing almost 2,000 acres, the park offers miles of trails and many lakes for year-round outdoor sports, recreation and environmental education. The Lebanon Hills Visitor Center, located in the eastern section of the park at 860 Cliff Road in Eagan, offers park information, interactive nature displays, courses and programs, and access to the park.
Features in the park include:
• Lebanon Hills Campground, 12100 Johnny Cake Ridge Road in Apple Valley, open May to mid-October;
• Camp Sacajawea Retreat Center, 5121 McAndrews Road in Apple Valley,( 952) 891-7000 for campsite availability;
• Schulze Lake Beach; 10 a. m.- 8 p. m., Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day

Heritage Library, located at 20085 Heritage Drive, Lakeville, is part of the Dakota County Library system, which includes nine branch libraries, and shares borrowing privileges with the city of South St. Paul Public Library.
The renovation and addition for Heritage Library and License Center in Lakeville was completed in 2019 as part of a Dakota County Library System project.
Hours as of July 2024: Monday – Thursday, 9 a. m.– 8 p. m.; Friday and Saturday, 9 a. m.– 5 p. m.; Sunday, 1-5 p. m. Closed on holidays.
