Those who know the redeeming aspects of volunteering will have no problem finding a cause to support in Lakeville. Following are some local service clubs and organizations.
360 Communities is an organization that uses community engagement to positively shape the future of local communities by operating programs to address hunger, domestic violence, school success and much more. More information is at 360communities. org.
The Downtown Lakeville Business Association is a nonprofit group that blends the cultural, historical and economic opportunities in Lakeville. More information is online at downtownlakeville. com, on Facebook, or downtownlakeville @ gmail. com.
The Lakeville Area Historical Society documents, collects, preserves and teaches the rich history of Lakeville. The historical society is in the Heritage Center, 20110 Holyoke Ave. Its displays and artifacts are open Mondays and Thursdays 9 a. m. to noon or by appointment. The Lakeville Area Active Adults, with most programs at the Heritage Center, 20110 Holyoke Ave., offers membership to those 50 and older. Annual membership fees – Lakeville residents: $ 20 single, $ 35 dual; nonresidents: $ 25 single and $ 40 couple. Lakeville Friends of the Environment was founded in 2007 and is dedicated to preserving and protecting the environment.
Some events include the annual community bike ride, Tour of Lakeville, in its 15th year. Taking part in bee counts, native seed collection, and a single-use plastics awareness campaign. For information about meetings and more, go to lakevillefriends. org.
The Lakeville Lions Club is the world’ s largest and most active service club. Lakeville Lions was chartered in April 1953 and has around 50 members. Meets the fourth Monday of each month 6:15 p. m. Lakeville Yellow Ribbon is committed to providing support and resources to local military members. Its office is in the Heritage Center, 20110 Holyoke Ave. More information at lakevillemn. gov / 315 / Yellow-Ribbon.
Lakeville Rotary is organized into committees based on four avenues: club service, vocational service, community service and international service. The Oscar & John Soberg Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 210 and Auxiliary, P. O. Box 308, Lakeville MN 55044.
